Overview of benders bay.

One of the most beautiful (damn, i keep repeating that word) sandbanks i have come across in maldives. This one is close to nika hotel and is a designated picnic spot for exclusive clients. Our photoshoot with two top italian models happened at this spot on a bright windy day. Some snaps are up in my flickr stream.

Good 'friends' tea outdoors.
When the crowd is too large to fit in normal dining rooms... refreshments are served buffet style, outside in the front yard, or in this case... on the street itself. From a visit to thimarafushi island for a friendly football match. The delegation consisted of some 40 members.

Lunch time is a fun time in this beautiful italian owned resort of madoogali maldives.
Infact, anytime is funtime in this kid friendly resort. (Fish feeder photo from flickr was taken here.) At times upto dozens of kids, of various nationalities join in, in various games, only they could have devised. My daughter has picked up a few phrases in italian, in exchange to let her friends borrow her camera.

Whats a little rain, if it doesnt bring a few surprises.
Tropical rain in the maldives always falls surprisingly hard. And loud. The advantages are... that it is always better to clear what has to be cleared, (instead of just dragging on all day) and get on with life.

Getting mobbed under a most serene sunset.
Part of a photographers life. Everywhere, especially when subjects are of groups of people. Shown here is my companion, from a recent get together. We were shooting beach footballers in action for a while, and a request for a group photo resulted everyone scrambling around the photographer to have an instant look at the shot just taken.

"I first met Ahmed Zahid - or Zahid as he is known, through the Maldivian family I was staying with during my week long stay in Addu Atoll, earlier in the year. The family mentioned that Zahid was a keen photographer who never left his house without his camera and that I should meet him.

A few phone calls later, Zahid appeared at the door of the kitchen I was sitting in. Turns out, Zahid is a little bit more than just a photographer. In fact, Zahid is a well trained Graphic Designer and a veteran freelancer with a beautiful selection of graphic design work to his name. As for photography, well, Zahid knows how to take a photo.

Zahid's Flickr site is incredibly popular. And while Zahid wishes that his viewers would be more interested in pictures other than sunsets over the Maldives, Zahid doesn't mind showing the more picturesque side of the Maldives."

Thanks... Thomas. Thank you so much. Photo and words by Thomas Pickard. please visit:
