Client is king
Despite my 4 years of design school...,
despite my rigourous perception of persistence, my soul is nearly always up for sale.
Thats what, after all, a designer is for. I thought. I was taught to live the life of mercenery. ie. Hired gun, aka Commercial Artist in design school. A life where client dictates and makes judgement above and beyond my knowledge and my creative wisdom on the very things I learnt.
"Make the font larger. Make this that and that this. And color it, ...with color. Just slightly darker." In someways it is cool when it is the client who makes judgement, do the thinking work AND pays me in the end for HIS design.
Above:Design for a friend turned client.I presented a few sketches with a variety of ideas... all related to grids, based on old Islamic Architecture. This was a modification of one idea. He suggested the 3 lines, repetition... and helped choose colors.
You know what? The client is always right. Especially when he is prompt with the payment.
Coming up. My nightmares with clients from hell.

yes in the end its the clients desire which comes out, and this may be quite distasteful when the skilled designer has nothing to do just say "yes boss" to everything
